On November 23, 2021, the Court overseeing the Tightwad Fire Protection District issued its judgement, which in part requires a special election to be held on April 5, 2022 (click here for the judgement).

At the time of filing, candidates must sign a Declaration of Candidacy in the presence of the Special Master (not before!) as well as a number of other affirmations:
- Affirmation of Constitutional Qualifications
- Affirmation of No Convictions
- Affirmation of Paid Taxes
- Missouri Ethics Commission Notice to Candidate and Ethics Guide
Candidates must also provide the Special Master with a copy of the Missouri Department of Revenue Form 5120 (the origninal must be notarized and sent to the Missouri Department of Revenue; the copy provided to the Special Master must be a copy of the form with the notarized signature, but the copy does not have to be notarized).
Finally, candidates must pay a $100 filing fee to the District's General Fund as required by RSMo 321.210).
